Introducing a new standard in SMR training
A new training course for garages using the industry standard 1link Service Network fleet service, maintenance and repair (SMR) platform has been launched.
Called the 1link Certification, it provides an introduction to the system and a detailed walkthrough of the setup process. The course also covers how to handle incoming bookings from fleets, create jobsheets, manage downtime effectively, and optimise the overall use of the platform.
Meeting demand for structured, professional learning
Rob Gargett, Vice President of Customer Operations said: “1link Service Network is very easy to use and historically, garages have adopted it under the guidance of our onboarding and support teams. Most are up and running within hours.
“However, in recent years, we have seen an increased demand for a more formalised style of training that enables garages to ensure their staff are not just equipped to use the platform competently but that its full potential is maximised.
“The 1link Certification has been created to meet that need. It’s designed to enable garage staff to use our processes highly effectively but also helps them deliver the best possible service for fleet operators and employ the technology to attract new customers.”
“It’s convenient and cost-effective for workshop and booking staff and there is already considerable interest from both existing and new users. We’re confident it will be really effective for the 1link community.”
The new course reflects the growing importance of digital capability in workshop operations, offering garages a clear framework for staff development and operational consistency.
Accessible online learning for every garage
1link Service Network is used by more than 8,200 garages in the UK, working with fleets totalling 4.9 million cars, vans and trucks to manage their SMR needs.
Rob said: “Our garage user base is huge, so there is massive potential for this kind of course. It is delivered online and can be worked through as and when users have time, with 12 months to complete the modules and receive the 1link Certification.

Supporting garages through technology and training
By introducing the 1link Certification, epyx aims to help garages increase efficiency, reduce administrative workload, and strengthen service quality through better use of the 1link Service Network platform. The training course is designed to enhance both the user experience and the overall standard of fleet maintenance delivery across the UK.
