Fleets managing more than one million UK fleet vehicles are using an 1link machine learning service, maintenance and repair (SMR) product just three months after launch.
AVA – or Automatic Vehicle Authorisation – integrates with 1link Service Network SMR processing platform, substantially reducing the number of jobs needing human authorisation.
Charlie Brooks, vice president of strategy, growth and data at 1link, said: “Several major leasing companies – some of the UK’s largest – have been among the first to sign up to use AVA, enabling us to reach the one million milestone very quickly.
“The advantages are numerous. The speed of response to garages increases dramatically..."
“The feedback we are receiving from them is very promising. We typically start off with customers using AVA in quite a defined, restricted manner, which then expands to cover more vehicles as confidence grows.
“Now, some leasing companies are already running AVA over the weekend, meaning many of their jobs during that time period are being approved or rejected entirely using machine learning.”
AVA is based on more than 40 million SMR datapoints taken from the last five years of transactions through 1link Service Network and is described by epyx as the biggest advance in the platform’s 21-year history.
Charlie said: “The majority of jobsheets manually reviewed by fleets are legitimate and approved without any changes. However, this process is slow and costly while often adding little real value.
“1link Service Network has long allowed a degree of auto-authorisation through the use of its detailed rules engine but our new machine learning technology moves this option forward several generations, allowing fleets to auto-authorise in a much more dynamic and effective manner than ever before, reflecting exactly their particular approach to SMR management and constantly updated with the most up-to-date data.
“The advantages are numerous. The speed of response to garages increases dramatically, decisioning consistency across similar jobs for each fleet rises, auto-authorisation of jobs out of hours is possible, senior staff can focus on higher value jobs requiring detailed knowledge, and junior staff are supported through decision making by the technology. Moreover, garages get almost immediate responses, reducing waiting time considerably.”
Charlie said, on average, almost 14,000 SMR jobs were processed through 1link Service Network every day, so the available dataset was growing all the time.
“We are in the unique position of having much more relevant data than other providers and that scale is essential to the effectiveness of AVA.
“Around five million fleet vehicles are registered for SMR on 1link Service Network so while one million is a good start, there is potential to sign up many more users.”
